“Making Memories” from 1975’s Fly By Night
Another early song, “Making Memories” demonstrates the sheer joy of a young band on tour, doing what they have always dreamed of doing, and feeling as though they can conquer the world, while still acknowledging the fragility of the situation in which they find themselves.
You know we`re havin` good days
And we hope they`re gonna last
Our future still looks brighter than our past
We feel no need to worry
No reason to be sad
Our memories remind us, maybe road life`s not so bad.1
A lesson for us all. Enjoy the times we have, because we never know when they might be over. But the memories we make are the truly priceless artifacts of our lives. And even in the bad times, that “road life,” those memories are still invaluable, and what we think is bad may turn out to be better than we had thought.
A nice thought for a Monday morning, no?
