“Final Girl” Movie Review

Just watched Final Girl, a horror/suspense/thriller-type flick on Netflix.

From IMDB:

A man teaches a young woman how to become a complete weapon. Later she is approached by a group of sadistic teens who kill blonde women for unknown reasons. The hunting season begins.

Yep. That pretty much sums it up. Especially “for unknown reasons.” Seriously. Those reasons are never known. Never implied. Never shared with us.

Ever.

As much as I like the general idea behind this movie, I’ve got some the problems with it.

The timeline is all wrong. Abigail Breslin’s character is training for 12 years.

12. Years.

And it is implied that she is training for this specific circumstance and these specific guys. What the hell?

Ok, really, I have ONE problem with this movie. It’s like the movie Hanna was crossed with La Femme Nikita and then re-written and directed by Jonathan Glazer in the style of Under the Skin.

Netflix has it at 1/5 stars, IMDB says 4.5/10.

I side with Netflix.
