Brad Pitt has another new movie coming out near the end of November. Allied stars Pitt and Marion Cotillard during World War II.
The story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Brad Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.
From the looks of the trailer, their relationship starts as a cover or deception, but becomes, as stories of this type always do in Hollywood, muddy and dangerous.
I’m going to need to see more on this film before I decide what I really think of it. Brad Pitt in World War II seems to now be becoming a thing, and, despite the film being directed by Robert Zemekis, I can’t help but think that this will wind up as simply another “make-Brad-Pitt-a-serious-Oscar-contender” film, with more style than substance.
But I could be wrong. It happens.
Time will tell.
